The 2024 T20 World Cup is the first ICC tournament to be held in the United States. A total of 20 teams will be in the fray this time which is a record.  Two teams — England and hosts West Indies — have won the title 2 times each. This edition of the World Cup started on June 2.

When it comes to hitting the maximums, retired West Indies batter Chris Gayle tops the chart for the most number of sixes in the tournament’s history with 63. He is followed by India’s Rohit Sharma who has 38 maximums while England player Jos Buttler comes third with 33 hits over the boundary ropes. India’s Yuvraj Singh comes next with 33 sixes and Australia’s Glenn Maxwell rounds out the top 5 with 32 sixes of his own.

In the 2022 T20 World Cup, Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza topped the charts with 11 sixes in 8 matches. He was followed by England’s Alex Hales who hit 10 sixes in 6 and Sri Lanka’s Kusal Mendis who blasted 10 maximums in 8 innings. South Africa’s Rilee Rossouw with 9 sixes from 5 matches and Australia’s Marcus Stoinis with 9 sixes in 4 matches closed out the top 5.
