T20 World Cup Points table
The 2024 T20 World Cup is the first ICC tournament to be held in the United States. A total of 20 teams will be in the fray this time which is a record. Two teams — England and hosts West Indies — have won the title 2 times each. While West Indies’ last title came in 2016, England come into the 2024 edition as the reigning champions. England also won the 2010 title while West Indies were victors in 2012 and 2016. 4 more teams have won the title over the years with India winning in 2007, Pakistan in 2009, Sri Lanka in 2014 and Australia in 2021.
As for the format of the 2024 WC, four groups of five teams will engage in a single-round robin format in the league stage. The top two teams from each group will proceed into the Super 8s. If the top-eight ranked teams in the T20I format proceed into the Super 8, they will be grouped based on their predetermined seedings, irrespective of their first or second position in the league stage.
In the Super 8, the teams will again split into two groups in a single-round robin league from which the top two teams in either group advance into the semi-finals.
