Rajasthan Lok Sabha Elections 2024: The 2024 Lok Sabha elections in Rajasthan were concluded in phase 2 on Friday, April 26, with the remaining 13 of their 25 seats going under the polling. Phase 2 of the Rajasthan Lok Sabha elections witnessed a voter turnout of 65.03 per cent, taking the total voter turnout of the state in the 18th Lok Sabha elections to 61.34 per cent. The results of the polls will be declared on June 4, 2024.
For many years, Rajasthan’s political landscape has alternated between the Congress and the BJP. Because of this, it is a bellwether state that often forecasts the formation of the central government and reflects national trends, a decisive victory in Rajasthan Lok Sabha Elections by any of the alliance will indicate a strong national trend.
While retaining their regional character, national themes about economic development and security will play a major role in the Rajasthan elections. Parties’ victory will depend heavily on addressing state-specific issues while coordinating them with national priorities. Rajasthan is a blend of both rural and urban settings, making the spectrum of electoral topics even bigger.
The 2024 Lok Sabha Elections in the state of Rajasthan will be concluded in the first quarter of the electoral period, i.e., on April 19 and April 26.
Phase 1: Date of polling- April 19
Phase 2: Date of polling- April 26
In Rajasthan, the General Elections are typically organised into two to three phases, which was the case in 2019 also, where ECI organised the 17th Lok Sabha Elections for Rajasthan in two phases. Similarly, in the 18th Lok Sabha elections, the state will have their polling for 25 seats in two phases.
Rajasthan is joint ninth largest state by the number of Lok Sabha seats, which currently stands at 25. Out of the 25 seats, four seats are reserved for SC candidates, while three seats are reserved for the ST candidates. Rajasthan has been one of the strongholds of the NDA government, as they have won 24 and 25 seats in 2019 and 2014 elections respectively.
Rajasthan is one of the states where BJP contests on all the seats for NDA, which is going to be the case once again in 2024. However things may change a little for INC this time around, as they might have to end up sharing seats with their fellow members of the I.N.D.I.A alliance.
