UP man eats live snake from river: ‘Food is personal choice, but not cruelty’

The viral video shows the dacoit sitting by the river and attempting to catch a snake. Soon after he nabs one, he moves towards the person filming the video and tries to choke the reptile. He waits for the snake to stop fluttering and then bites off a piece of it. The video also shows passersby watching him eat the live snake.

Sharing the video on X, a news channel, Bharat Samachar wrote, “Fatehpur – Video of dacoit Ganga Prasad released from jail goes viral. Video shows dacoit eating a live snake. Ganga has been an active member of the Shankar Kewat gang. Case of Kalka camp in Kishanpur police station area.”

After the video caught the internet’s attention, Fatehpur police responded and wrote, “In this case, the Kishanpur police station in-charge has been directed to take necessary action.”

Shared on July 8, the video sparked several reactions from users demanding strict action against the dacoit. One user wrote, “A case should be filed against this person under the Indian Wildlife Protection Act.” Another commented, “Food is personal choice. But not animal cruelty.”

“He is showing your strength to the snake, if you have the courage then save the life of some innocent creature, then you will know that you are a man,” a third user reacted.
