Wheel detaches from United Airlines Boeing 757-200 after take-off from Los Angeles airport. Watch

United Airlines confirmed that Flight 1001 safely landed in Denver three hours after losing a wheel during takeoff from LAX, with no injuries reported.

On Monday, July 8, a wheel reportedly detached from a United Airlines Boeing 757-200 shortly after take-off from the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Alarming footage shared by RadarBox captured the moment the tire fell from the plane’s undercarriage and plummeted to the ground just seconds after departure.

Boeing is under scrutiny after a series of troubling incidents involving its aircraft this week. This latest incident follows two others, including a United Airlines Boeing 777-200 that lost a landing gear tire during take-off from San Francisco on March 7. Fortunately, the plane landed safely in Los Angeles.

The post on X had the caption, “Here’s the moment that United flight #UA35 lost a wheel during takeoff, captured by CaliPlanes.”

Many reports mention that United Airlines confirmed that the wheel came loose at 7 am as Flight 1001 departed LAX bound for Denver. The aircraft landed safely in Denver about three hours later, with no injuries to the crew or passengers.

A United Airlines spokesperson reported that the wheel was later found in Los Angeles, and an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the incident. It remains unclear if the wheel caused any ground damage.

On seeing the video, one social media user said, “ou picked a fine time to leave me Loose Wheel.” A second user wrote, “Boeing bye bye..”

And a third said, “United. No surprise..”
