Samsung is all set to unveil its newest foldable phones, alongside new wireless earbuds and smartwatches, at the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event on July 10 in Paris. However, just days before the launch, a known tipster with a solid track record leaked the entire spec sheet for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and the Galaxy Z Flip 6.
Evan Blass, @evleaks on X, suggested that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is an incremental upgrade over its predecessor, while the Galaxy Z Flip 6 will get a slightly bigger battery, and an improved primary camera.
Both phones are said to offer IP48 dust and water resistance, a first for the company’s foldable lineup.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 will likely be powered by Qualcomm’s 2024 flagship chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, and will be 14 grams lighter than its predecessor. While the phone will retain the 7.6-inch inner display, Samsung might bump up the size of the outer display from 6.2 inches to 6.3 inches. The company also seems to have increased the max brightness from 1,750 nits to 2,600 nits.
The tipster suggested that Samsung has made the Galaxy Z Fold 6 slightly shorter and thinner than its predecessor while increasing the width by a couple of millimetres. Also, it looks like the phone will feature an “improved Armor Aluminum frame”. However, the camera setup and the battery capacity may remain the same.
To give you a quick recap, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 has a triple rear camera setup that consists of a 50MP primary shooter, a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and a 12MP ultrawide sensor.
If you are into clamshell style foldable, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 may cater to you. Apart from the new chipset (Snapdragon 8 Gen 3), the flip phone is getting some really good hardware upgrades.
Blass said that the Galaxy Z Flip 6 will have a 50MP primary camera (the Z Flip 5 had a 12MP sensor) and a larger 4,000mAh battery (up from 3,700). Samsung seems to have increased the RAM from 8GB to 12GB, but the secondary display will now pack an IPS panel instead of OLED. Another quality-of-life upgrade is that the phone will now reflect the colour of your choice instead of just one panel on the back.
Both the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and the Galaxy Z Flip 6 are said to come with AI features like Note Assist, which lets you transcribe recordings and summarise notes. Also, Google’s Circle to Search functionality will be compatible with the S Pen.
Samsung has already opened the pre-reservation for the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Flip 6, Galaxy Buds 3 and the Galaxy Watch 7 series. Users can pre-reserve the upcoming Galaxy products from Samsung India’s official website––samsung.com/in/unpacked/––by paying Rs 1,999 and get benefits worth Rs 7,000 along with the ability to buy special editions and the ability to upgrade by exchanging older devices.
