Austria coach Ralf Rangnick restored midfielder Christoph Baumgartner to the starting lineup for his side's last-16 clash with Turkey at Euro 2024 on Tuesday.

Baumgartner, who scored a penalty in a 6-1 win over the Turks in March, started his side's 3-2 win over Netherlands on the bench, coming on in the second half as Austria secured victory in Group D.

Turkey will be without captain Hakan Calhanoglu and defender Samet Akaydin due to suspension, with coach Vincenzo Montella calling on Kaan Ayhan and Abdulkerim Bardakci to replace them.

Arda Guler had done it before. His first-ever goal for Turkey was a delightful curler from outside the box. And so, when he let the ball fly on his Euros debut against Georgia, the ‘Turkish Messi’ had little doubt about the shot’s outcome — piercing through the crisp Dortmund air and bending beautifully to ruffle the top corner.

A high flying Austria will take on Turkey in the last Round Of 16 match on Wednesday in the hope of booking the last quarterfinal spot and setting up a date with Netherlands.
