When asked why he chose to do a show like Bigg Boss OTT, Deepak Chaurasia said, “I always believe in trying new things in life. When I was offered the show, I wondered if I should take it up or not. As a journalist, I have covered diplomacy, politics, etc. I have given 30 years to the profession, so I thought it was time to do something new. I want to connect with the youth now. The show houses many influencers, and I thought what better than connecting with young influencers, Bigg Boss will be a great platform.”

Deepak also shared how his experiences as a journalist will come in handy on the show and further declared that he will share some very controversial stories while he is in the house. “As journalists, we can handle all kinds of situations. In these three decades, I have covered all kinds of situations. I covered the 2004 Tsunami quite extensively, saw governments change, and 9/11, I have witnessed so many events in real life. I have dealt with all kinds of people. So, 5 to 8 weeks on Bigg Boss won’t be very difficult. But yes, I am addicted to my phone so being without that will be a challenge.”

But is manipulation a technique Deepak Chaurasia has mastered over the years, and is it easy to manipulate him? In response, Deepak said, “I believe life is full of manipulation, but if I get manipulated, it will be on my free will. I can hide lots of secrets within me. In these 31 years, I have many secrets buried inside me. If I start revealing them, biggest of people will have a problem with it. But I will expose a few discrepancies that I have gone through in the journalism world. I will speak things with facts, but they will create lots of controversies. I will be uncensored. I will tell the world how a story is made, and what goes behind it. In 31 years, I have censored myself a lot, but now I will uncensor all of it in a few weeks. I will share a new story every day.”

In the past, journalists have not fared very well on Bigg Boss. Being the odd ones out, they have often been easy targets for evictions. Talking about the same, Deepak said, “I would want people to see me as an easy target and try to evict me. I am not what I may appear, so let them feel so.” While the journalist believes he is stepping out of his comfort zone, adjusting to the Bigg Boss OTT 3 house will be a challenge. But Deepak claims that he has been through worse, sharing that once while covering a natural calamity, he wore the same clothes for two weeks.

When asked how he plans to deal with the name, fame, and money that Bigg Boss brings him, Deepak shared, “I belong to that generation of TV who people have seen for 31 years. I have covered very serious issues. I am mentally prepared. I hope all goes well. I am a household name, so I never needed to make a name. I come from that era of journalism when people got paid a few thousand, but I earned lakhs. So financially I have been okay. My name has been used in films, and characters have been inspired by me, so I don’t need to make a name with this show. Bigg Boss will give me a little fame, I will enjoy that.”

Festive offer

Though he has not seen previous seasons of Bigg Boss, when he decided to do the show, Deepak Chaurasia saw Bigg Boss OTT 2 in three days, because he never goes unprepared for any project. Also considering the Bigg Boss house can get nasty, Deepak shared how he will deal with such situations. “Newsrooms can be nasty. Everywhere you find people who throw tantrums be it work or weddings, so I will handle them. I aim to tell the world uncut stories, share my experiences with the world. I want them to see my real face. It will be a learning experience for me too.”

Lastly, sharing his good and bad habits, Deepak explained that he is someone who goes to the grass root level to unearth the truth. “I see things with a larger perspective. If I set my focus on something, I will pursue it till the last bit. But I get hurt very easily. I feel people steal my positive energy and give their negative energy to me and I pull through with it. I am also very impulsive at times. That said, winning or losing doesn’t matter to me, life should be meaningful even if it’s not long.”
