Sources in the BSP said, to regain its electoral base the party has decided to increase its members ahead of the Assembly polls in different states.

The membership fee has also been reduced to allow people from financially weaker sections and from rural areas to get associated with the party.

Although the worst of the summer has passed, Supreme Court lawyers will take in a breath of cool air as the courtroom corridors were decked up for air conditioning as the courts reopened on Monday.

The iconic circular facade of the court was covered up with glass facade and a false ceiling at a cost of nearly 2.75 crore, apart from the cost spent on air conditioning. Apart from entrances to courtrooms, these corridors are where lawyers in their black blazers and gowns socialise, and wait for their cases to be taken up.

Reverse Formula

Festive offer

To counter the Samajwadi Party’s PDA (Pichhda, Dalit, Alpsankhyak) formula, which is being credited for the party’s success in the Lok Sabha polls, BJP leader and former Union minister of state Kaushal Kishore has decided to take out a “DPA yatra” — Dalit, Pichhda, Aggda (Dalits, backward, upper castes) — across the country from August 15 under the banner of his organisation ‘Parakh Mahasangh’.

In the Pichhda category, Kishore has decided to reach out to Muslims and Sikhs, apart from Hindus. During the yatra, to start from Lucknow, Kishore aims to convince these communities that there is no threat to the Constitution in the NDA rule. Kishore, a Dalit leader, lost the Lok Sabha election to SP’s R K Chaudhary.
