“The court examined seven prosecution witnesses. The complainant and the victim did not support the prosecution’s theory and were declared hostile,” said defence counsel Mohammad Firoz.

In the FIR, the girl’s father alleged that his distant relatives were involved in the kidnapping of his daughter .

The police conducted searches at several places during the investigation. The girl was recovered nearly six months later followed by the arrest of accused.

The girl’s statement was recorded by the police and a magistrate. On the basis of her statement, the police invoked rape charges against the youth.

“The girl stated she had gone with the youth on her own,” said advocate Mohammad Firoz. ENS
