The Delhi Police has sought details from X after a case was filed against Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra over her alleged remarks against National Commission of Women (NCW) chief Rekha Sharma.

Earlier, NCW had taken suo motu cognizance of Moitra’s remarks and sought an FIR against her. On July 4, Moitra posted a video on X showing Sharma arriving at the site of stampede in Hathras, which was later deleted.

The IFSO unit of the Delhi Police registered an FIR against the Krishnanagar MP Sunday. She was booked under Section 79 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita that pertains to work, gesture or act intending to outrage modesty of a woman, said Delhi Police PRO, DCP Suman Nalwa.

Once a response is received, a call will be taken to summon Moitra to the IFSO’s office in Dwarka, said a senior official of the IFSO.
