Delhi Bar Association to abstain from work today over civil judge’s ‘draconian’ order

The Delhi Bar Association has resolved it “will not tolerate unnecessary and undue interference of the judicial officers against renovation/repair etc”.

DBAThe notice passed by DBA states that there shall be "complete abstinence" from work on July 12 to protest against the circular passed by the administrative civil judge.

Citing a ‘draconian’ order passed by an administrative civil judge which allegedly restricts the entry and exit of any repair material in the lawyers’ chambers without the prior approval of the caretaking branch, the Delhi Bar Association (DBA) passed an order to abstain from work on Friday.

The notice passed by DBA states that there shall be “complete abstinence” from work on July 12 to protest against the circular passed by the administrative civil judge. “It has been resolved that the bar will not tolerate unnecessary and undue interference of the judicial officers against renovation/repair etc. in the lawyers’ chamber complex,” read the notice passed by the association.

A caretaking branch deals with housekeeping to ensure the cleanliness of the Court complex, contacting the Public Works Department (PWD) officers engaged in ongoing projects, ensuring regular supply of drinking water, matters related to infrastructure, maintaining notice boards, and signage among other tasks.
