A 37-year-old cab driver was allegedly murdered by his friend at the parking area of Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) over a financial dispute on Tuesday night. According to the Bengaluru police, the deceased has been identified as Lokesh, a resident of J P Nagar, and accused as his friend Mutturaj, 31, who lives in the Sarakki area.
The Bengaluru police said the incident took place around 11.30 pm on Tuesday at the parking area of KIA after an argument broke out over returning the loan of Rs 6 lakh which Lokesh borrowed about a year ago. As the argument turned violent, Mutturaj pulled out a small knife Lokesh used to keep in his car and stabbed the driver in his chest.
Other drivers who were present nearby heard him shout out in pain, and shifted him to a nearby hospital where he died after failing to respond to the treatment, said the police. Mutturaj surrendered to the police as soon as Lokesh died, they added.
A police officer said they suspect both Lokesh and Mutturaj had consumed alcohol before the argument broke out. The Bengaluru Airport police have registered a murder case and said their investigations are underway.
