"The Pakistan team is capable of great things at this World Cup due to their well-balanced squad. Along with batters like captain Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, the Men in Green have one of the most lethal pace batteries in the tournament with Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah capable of turning any match on its head. Pakistan have won the World Cup once in 1992 under the captaincy of Imran Khan. They were runners-up in the 1999 edition, losing to Australia and have been semi-finalists four times - in 1979, 1983, 1987 and 2011. Their recent record in big tournaments has been impressive with the team reaching the finals of the 2022 Asia Cup and the 2022 T20 World Cup against Sri Lanka and England respectively. They were unsuccessful in lifting the trophy on both occasions which may motivate them to lift the 2023 World Cup on Indian soil."
