(IND) SENIOR DIRECTOR, SOFTWARE ENGINEERING

Position Summary...

Provides overall direction by analyzing business objectives and customer needs; developing, communicating, building support for, and implementing business strategies, plans, and practices; analyzing costs and forecasts and incorporating them into business plans; determining and supporting resource requirements; evaluating operational processes; measuring outcomes to ensure desired results; identifying and capitalizing on improvement opportunities; promoting a customer environment; and demonstrating adaptability and sponsoring continuous learning. Develops and implements strategies to attract and maintain a highly skilled and engaged workforce by diagnosing capability gaps; recruiting, selecting, and developing talent; supporting mentorship, workforce development, and succession planning; and leveraging the capabilities of new and existing talent. Cultivates an environment where associates respect and adhere to company standards of integrity and ethics by integrating these values into all programs and practices; developing consequences for violations or non-compliance; and supporting the Open Door Policy. Develops and leverages internal and external partnerships and networks to maximize the achievement of business goals by sponsoring and leading key community outreach and involvement initiatives; engaging key stakeholders in the development, execution, and evaluation of appropriate business plans and initiatives; and supporting associate efforts in these areas.

About Team:

As a part of the Data Foundation Services team, you will have the opportunity to be part of a team that is building various managed platform capabilities for

• The control plane for databases including lifecycle management, repair, auto scaling and other similar capabilities.
• Build and operate search and caching services.
• Build client SDKs for Data Services encompassing security, observability, and resiliency features.
  
  

What you'll do:

• As a Director at Walmart IDC, you’ll have the opportunity to help define, implement, manage, and deliver solutions that will help make Walmart data driven. You will be developing technical strategies for applications and systems by promoting an understanding of the technology and application roadmap. You will help in building & managing a high performing team that can work directly with global markets in delivering scalable local solutions in line with the global design.
• Build, develop and guide high-performing talent for the data in motion team.
• Engage with leadership in SV (Sunnyvale), BV (Bentonville) and In-country centers and set up strategy and priorities for the team and in delivering best services to the customers around the globe.
• Adapt and deliver on the Agile strategy for the team.
• Create a collaborative environment across geography for delivering best services to the customers around the globe
• Handle budget planning, spend and tracking for your area of responsibility.
• Promote and support company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity.
• Provide supervision, mentoring and development opportunities for associates and managers who report into you.
  
  

What you'll bring:

Good academic record and graduated (B. E/ B.Tech / M.E / M.Tech/ MBA)

20+ years of experience in software development.

Expert and hands on experience in various elements of messaging technologies – Kafka, AMQ, NiFi, IBMMQ, Auditing and Reconciliation systems, Inventory systems

Experience with building cloud native services on in private and public cloud (Google and/or Azure)

Knowledge in Experimentation, MAB, Customer transaction telemetry space.

Working Knowledge of Kubernetes, Spark and/or Flink, SQL and no SQL databases.

Strong Architecture acumen, strong product development background and operating systems at scale.

Sound knowledge on automation with deep expertise in CI/CD.

Proficient in Java and at least one scripting language

Proficient in Agile development practices, tracking, and striving for continuous process improvements.

Technical leadership in design, implementation and support of core platform services that are highly reliable, flexible, and scalable.

Extremely strong technical background with the capability of being hands-on if required and earn the respect and ability to mentor top individual technical talent.

Good experience of working with globally distributed teams in a collaborative and productive manner.

Excellent interpersonal skills, good with people, ability to negotiate.
