The alternaria leaf spot, a fungus that damages leaves of apple plants resulting in premature defoliation and damage to fruit, has been spreading like wildfire in apple orchards across Himachal Pradesh, officials and experts have said include leaf blotch and subsequent fruit spots and can lead to 85% defoliation and up to 80% infested fruits per orchard. Previously only scab and powdery mildew were recognize as harmful diseases but  This year sudden unavailability of rainfall🌧 in Himachal pradesh orchards promoted alternaria leaf disease in apple 🍎🍏 orchards of state, This can be related to how climate change can bring the new diseases in horticulture sector of state, although improper nutrition given to orchards also being an Secondary reason for the spread of alternaria disease in apple🍎🍏 orchards #apple #horticulture #orchards #climatechange

Application of Drones in Agricultural Activities is emerging as Artificial Intelligence, Spraying of Nano Urea and other plants growth Hormones, Pesticides etc on Sugarcane,cotton, Soybean, Maize ,Rice and cowpea. But no specific doses of standard molecules of pesticides have been developed by SAU’s keeping in view Qty of water versus Qty of pesticides. Farmers at present apply 100-150 litres of water with 250ml of pesticides/acre in case of Rice but in case of using Drones the qty of water comes comes to 10-15 litres as per capacity of barrels of Drones, similarly the Qty of pesticides will be required to be reduced to same ratio accordingly.Would it be effective to control the pest attack in rice like BPH, leaf folder and stem borer in Rice being major pests in Haryana on Basmati Rice and Mota Dhan ? If it can be compatible then it will save water, Cost on pesticides and manual labor which is engaged by farmers manually. Same is the case with sugarcane crop as farmers have to control pest attacks on campaign basis by sugar mills HFPC- FPO DSMALIK

Solapur, MH. *** Farmers from Barshi, Solapur, have stated that in the upcoming kharif season, they will prioritize Udid crop over soybeans as an intercrop in pigeon pea cultivation. *** In Maharashtra, some farmers have stated that instead of soybean, they plan to sow maize and pigeon-pea in the upcoming kharif season.Trade sources have indicated that there will indeed be a shift from soybeans to other crops, accounting for at least 10% of the change. Amendments to FCO for biostimulants for use in #agriculture. This is a welcome step to bring order to the chaos in this segment where the #farmers are being offered anything under the guise of 'bio' products, due to lack of guidelines till now. The top concerns in these amendments that can continue to hamper availability of quality input products and impact output quality in my opinion: 1⃣Exemption of toxicology data: affidavits from manufacturers for claiming non-toxicity & thereby approving a product. It seems that the authorities either lack testing protocols or aren't clear of the toxicology norms. 2⃣Increased permissible pesticide limit: a 100x increase from 0.01ppm to 1.0 ppm. A consideration of MRLs must be taken to ensure that whether such limits ensure consumer safety and output quality fulfils export norms.

Potato Prices Surge in Uttar Pradesh. Uttar Pradesh, known for its high potato production, is facing a challenging situation this season as the farmers grapple with a significant drop in potato yields due to adverse weather conditions. The potato production in the state has plummeted by 25 to 30 percent, leading to a surge in prices and concerns among consumers. Potato traders in Uttar Pradesh have witnessed a 10 percent increase in potato prices, with further escalations anticipated in the near future. The current market prices range between Rs 35 to Rs 40 per kg, reflecting a steep rise compared to the previous year. If the current trend persists, experts warn that potato prices could soar to Rs 50 per kg by July-August. As traders gradually withdraw potatoes from cold storage to meet domestic demand, the imbalance between supply and demand is exacerbating the price surge. With an estimated 240 lakh tonnes of potatoes produced this season, a decrease from the previous year, the state is bracing for potential price hikes as the new crop arrives.
