Product Discovery - Speaking to customers and users, analysing data, testing ideas and identifying what will be valuable to customers and the business 2. Product Delivery - Regularly and rapidly shipping quality, outcome focussed, products with the team 3. Business Acumen - understanding the business and strategy. How the various teams work together and the products role in generating business value 4. Communication & managing up - Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to influence and lead irrespective of your position in the company org structure What have I missed?

The role of a product manager: Product strategy As a product manager, your role isn't just to build a product; it's to build a product that works—one that solves a need and delights customers. The product strategy outlines how the product will win in the market. As a product manager, it's your responsibility to - (1) Contribute to creating a product strategy. If you are building a new product, research how it will beat the competition and win in the market. It's much easier, especially for junior and mid-level PMs, to develop/contribute to the product strategy, so don't miss the chance. Present your strategy with data to back up your stance. (2) Challenge it. For existing products, it's great if you believe the strategy works or would work. However, if you don't, present your reasons why to the leadership team. If possible, test your ideas on a small scale to demonstrate the potential impact. (3) Own the product strategy. Owning the product strategy means you are "selling" it to stakeholders to get their buy-in, and you're constantly assessing if it works and finding ways to improve it for better results. If you've done (1) and (2) above, it's a lot easier to own the product strategy. In summary, don't shy away from the product strategy.
