CoinSwitch's parent company PeepalCo has launched a stockbroking platform called Lemonn. CoinSwitch does have more than 2 CR users on its platform they've raised more than $300 million from their investors and they're a unicorn as well but the company's Revenue has declined by more than 80% in FY 23 down to just 45.6 crores total from a high of almost 250 crores in fy22. so Lemonn may be an act of desperation on CoinSwitch's part they're just trying to survive here but there might still be an opportunity for them in this space because just 6% of Indians are investing in the stock market. The LLM models are getting cheaper than anything. Not just that, earlier today I read the post of Bhavish Aggarwal making the Ola Maps API free for upto 2 years. Following that, read another article with Google maps slashing API prices by 70%. While it does seem like improved profit streams for companiens dependent on LLM/Big tech APIs, one should also wonder that having AI in your tech doesn’t mean anything anymore. The use case matters more. Simply adding .ai in existing solution won’t go far ahead. In this context, I really admire what Hebbia does. Offering Use cases rather than general AI product. We at Humantic AI also thrive with that ideology. Having AI in everything is not an edge. Having AI where it can deliver something previously untapped, is an edge! #ai #product

One such method is geohashing, a geocoding method used to encode geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude) [2D geometry] into a short string of digits and letters [1D geometry] delineating an area on a map, which is called a cell, with varying resolutions (sizes). The more characters in the string, the more precise the location (smaller cell). How It Works: Geohash follows the rule of Divide and Conquer. 1. Divide and Encode: Start by dividing the world into four cells, labeled 0, 1, 2, and 3. 2. Zoom In: Select one cell (e.g., cell 2), and divide it into four more cells (2-0, 2-1, 2-2, 2-3). 3. Koo, once promoted as an alternative to Twitter, is closing down. India lacks global success like Twitter or Facebook because we often avoid true innovation. We tend to replicate what's successful in the West and adjust it for the Indian market since it's much simpler than creating something new. Koo imitated Twitter, even copying the logo. This lack of originality is the issue. People had no incentive to leave Twitter and join Koo because it didn't offer anything unique. Even I didn't create an account on Koo. 📉 The Fall of BYJU'S: A Cautionary Tale for Indian Parents As Byju's valuation plummets from a staggering $22 billion to virtually zero (ref in the comments section), it becomes imperative to examine the practices that have led to such a downfall. Unfortunately, these are not just corporate missteps but issues that deeply affect individual lives, particularly those of unsuspecting parents in Tier 2 and Tier 3 towns. One such case involves my relative, who has been entangled in an ordeal with Byju's that perfectly encapsulates the company's current troubles. Despite raising a cancellation request in April'24, Byju's has continued to charge them for both April and May (June they could not deduct because my relative did not put enough money in it). The BYJU'S support staff, which should be a beacon of assistance, has been unresponsive and unhelpful. This negligence has forced my relative to consider closing their primary bank account, a drastic step that disrupts their everyday transactions and financial stability. As per their support staff - they can not assure whether this deduction will stop or not even when the cancellation request has been raised, hence they are left with no choice but to close their primary bank account. Even after closing the bank account, my relative is still being relentlessly chased by Byju's recovery department to pay the subscription fees/emi. The tone and persistence of these recovery agents resemble that of extortionists, putting immense mental pressure on my relative. This aggressive and harassing behavior is unacceptable and further underscores the company's operational failures. Byju's was once seen as a revolutionary force in education, promising quality learning to children across India. However, the company's inability to handle basic customer service issues speaks volumes about its operational failures. Parents, particularly in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, invest in educational services like Byju's with the hope of securing a better future for their children. It is disheartening to see these very families being taken advantage of and left in distress. This erosion of trust is perhaps one of the fundamental reasons behind Byju's precipitous decline in valuation. 🛑 Parents, please exercise caution when dealing with Byju's. Always read the fine print and ensure you understand the terms and conditions before committing to any service. The tale of Symmetric and Asymmetric Cryptography . . . Encryption sounds like magic. In symmetric cryptography, we use the same key for encryption and decryption Pro: It's blazing fast. Con: Since we need the same key to decrypt the message, we have to find a way to securely share this key with our counterpart. On the other hand Asymmetric cryptography, uses 2 distinct keys. One for Encryption and the other one for Decryption. Pro: Since we have 2 keys one being Public and the other being Private, We can easily distribute the Public key and anybody can encrypt the message using it and the counterpart having a private key can decrypt that message. The catch is that the party who's gonna decrypt the message has to share this public key with all the parties wanna encrypt the message, which means it has to initiate the whole transaction. If the decryptor party now wants to send a secret message, he simply can't. Because anybody can decrypt the message as his public key is publically available. How cruel this world is? Con: It's orders of magnitude slower than Symmetric cryptography. This is the old tale in Computer Science. Everything is a trade-off. You get something, You lose something.
