About
Passionate about education and mentorship, I am a career coach dedicated to guiding students through their educational and career choices. As an alumnus of IIM Bangalore and SRCC, I deeply value the high-caliber education I received, which has been a cornerstone in my decision to help others. With over a decade of experience, I've successfully mentored thousands of students, helping them ace competitive exams like the CAT, GMAT, CLAT, CUET, LSAT, IPM, and LNAT, and secure placements in top-tier institutions globally. I am also a published author with Wiley, having written extensively on mastering Written Ability Tests, Group Discussions, and Interviews for the IIMs. My approach is centered on clarity, strategy, and motivation, aiming to unlock each student's potential by aligning their ambitions with actionable plans. Here's how you can build credibility and trust when networking with new contacts in your industry.
In today's world of YouTube videos and ChatGPTs, the way we add value has evolved. I believe that in this age of easy access to information, one can add value by explaining "how" something should be done rather than just stating "what" should be done. For example, instead of telling a student, "You must do some internships," I focus on helping them secure an internship. This might include making introductions or advising them to acquire certain skills first.

Here's how you can effectively communicate your career goals to your supervisor.
To get your goals acknowledged and honored by your supervisor, you first need to know your firm's goals. Your goals must align with the company's objectives and be realistic. For example, if a role requires an MBA and you don't have one, aiming for that role in six months is unrealistic. Additionally, your goals shouldn't negatively impact your supervisor, such as wanting to switch departments while being crucial to a project on which your supervisor's promotion depends. In such a scenario, have a proper plan in place, including timelines and movement contingent on the project's successful completion. This will showcase your multifaceted approach and consideration for the firm's success.

Here's how you can navigate the job search process for career counseling professionals in remote work.
Many believe networking is about asking friends or LinkedIn connections for favors, but this has a low success rate. Before leveraging our network, we must understand what qualifies as our network. To consider someone part of your network, they need to trust your credentials. Share your achievements with them, not through overt sales pitches, but through informal conversations over calls or messages. Share your clients' success stories to build trust. I follow a 2:1 ratio: I don't ask for help unless I've helped or offered assistance twice. This involves staying updated with my network and offering help when possible. By building trust and giving first, one can effectively leverage one's network and create lasting relationships.
