Ripples of Impact: The Chronicle of WABAG's Century in Water. Chapter 07: Expanding Horizons (Global Expansion and Key Mergers for Reshaping History) In the 1990s, WABAG expanded globally, managing around 50 water projects annually in Germany's unified states, emphasizing water and sewage treatment plants. Simultaneously in Austria, SGP VA and Waagner Biro AG merged to form Austrian Energy & Environment SGP/Waagner Biro GmbH (AE&E), bolstering their global presence, particularly in China, Iran, and Egypt. Dr. Günter Heisler led AE&E's Water Technology Division from 1995. In 1996, AE&E acquired Bremen's TETRA company, expanding their capabilities in sea and brackish water desalination. Acquisitions of Swiss Sulzer Chemtech AG broadened AE&E's water/wastewater and sludge treatment portfolio. They also obtained the Reverse Osmosis desalination segment from ELIN and purchased 70% of PURAQUA shares, expanding sewage treatment operations in Austria, Eastern Europe, and China. In May 1999, VA TECH/Austrian Energy acquired WABAG from DEUTSCHE BABCOCK AG, forming VA TECH WABAG GmbH, marking a significant milestone in WABAG's history. #RipplesOfImpact #WABAGChronicle #Germany #SewageTreatmentPlants #Austria #China #Iran #Egypt #ELIN #PURAQUA #SDG #Passioneering #Water #Sanitation #Sustainability #ESG #WABAG #VATECH #WABAG #WABAG100 VA TECH WABAG GmbH

Honourable President of Tunisia, Mr. Kais Saied, inaugurated the WABAG-built seawater desalination plant in Zarat, located in Gabes Province. The inauguration was attended by a high-level delegation from the Government of Tunisia along with WABAG officials. This 50 MLD SWRO plant, expandable up to 100 MLD, was executed by WABAG for the Société Nationale d’Exploitation et de Distribution des Eaux (SONEDE). The Design, Build, and Operate (DBO) project was funded by KfW Germany, with the scope of engineering, supply, and construction, employing state-of-the-art seawater reverse osmosis technologies with an energy recovery system. WABAG will also be responsible for operating and maintaining the plant for 12 months. This plant will serve as a reliable drinking water source for the people of Tunisia and stands as a testament to WABAG’s global desalination expertise, promoting desalination as a viable, reliable, affordable, and sustainable solution for ensuring water security in coastal regions. #KaisSaied #PresidentOfTunisia #SONEDE #KFW #Tunisia #Desalination #WaterSecurity #SustainableSolutions #RenewableEnergy #WaterTechnology #SeawaterDesalination #SWRO #CleanWater #GlobalWaterSolutions #InnovativeEngineering #Environment #Sustainability #SDG #ESG #WABAG #VATECHWABAG #Passioneering #WABAG100 Guhan Kandasamy Mohamed Habib DEROUICH Kumaran B.K.

Ripples of Impact: The Chronicle of WABAG's Century in Water. Chapter 06: Innovation and Expansion (WABAG's Journey Beyond Borders) In the early 1980s, WABAG began its important business in Algeria, focusing on industrial and municipal water treatment plants. In Germany, WABAG supplied equipment for wastewater treatment plants for flue gas desulphurisation in power stations. Intensive market development led to significant orders for water plants in Zaire (now the Republic of Congo). Patent applications were filed for the CARIX process and for backwashable filters. Additionally, WABAG supplied its first reverse osmosis systems for producing high-purity water for the microelectronics industry. In the late 1980s in Austria, the Austrian industry group SGP AG fully integrated its subsidiary, Overhoff GmbH, into its environmental technology division. Initial successful business activities with water and wastewater projects in China fostered a continuously positive development in water technology. The merger of SGP AG's Energy and Environmental Technology Division with VA Finalindustrie to create SGP VA, along with the expansion into new markets such as Iran, Egypt, and Syria, significantly contributed to the division's continued success. Under the leadership of Mr. Peter Misakyan, WABAG secured numerous contracts for drinking and wastewater treatment in China. #RipplesOfImpact #WABAGChronicle #WasteWaterTreatmentEquipment #FlueGas #Desulfurization #German #Zaire #ReverseOsmosis #Africa #OverhoddGMBH #Austria #VAfinalindustrie #Iran #Egypt #Syria #China #SDG #Passioneering #Water #Sanitation #Sustainability #ESG #WABAG #VATECHWABAG #WABAG100

VA TECH WABAG LTD. Delighted to present a video case study of its Centralized Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) Plant, designed and executed for NMDC Steel Ltd. in Nagarnar. This advanced facility, with a capacity of 180 m³/h, leverages cutting-edge Ultrafiltration and Reverse Osmosis technologies to efficiently manage steel production effluents. The ZLD plant achieves an impressive 90% overall efficiency through a multi-stage process, ensuring wastewater-free production. By recycling and reusing treated effluent as makeup cooling water, a closed water circuit is created, aligning perfectly with sustainable development goals. The plant handles wastewater from 15 different sources, including high TDS streams, demonstrating its versatility and robustness. As one of the largest centralized ZLD facilities in the Indian Steel Industry, this project underscores WABAG's commitment to sustainability and innovation. #NMDC #ZeroLiquidDischarge #ZLD #WaterTreatment #Steelindustry #WaterIndustry #WaterSector #SDG #ESG #Water #Sanitation #Sustainability #Wabag100 #WABAG #Passioneering
