About us
Practo Foundation Trust is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing healthcare accessibility and quality for all. We partner with hospitals, clinics, NGOs, and like-minded groups who share our vision of empowering underprivileged communities to live longer, healthier lives. Our primary focus is to address the unmet healthcare needs of marginalized populations, beginning with the pressing issue of cataracts. In India, eliminating cataract blindness requires around 15 million surgeries per year. To tackle this issue, we are establishing a robust healthcare provider network across South and East India, providing free cataract surgery and postoperative care. Our ultimate objective is to restore vision to those who are suffering and empower them to make positive contributions to their communities. We believe everyone has the right to access quality eye care services, and we are working tirelessly toward a world where preventable blindness is non-existent. Our target is to provide 10,000 free cataract surgeries by 2024. Beyond our current efforts, the Practo Foundation Trust is committed to transforming healthcare delivery for underserved communities through technology, innovation, and collaboration. We aspire to create a world where access to quality healthcare is a reality for all, regardless of socioeconomic status. With great anticipation, we look forward to continuing our journey toward a healthier and more equitable world.

"Healthcare is not a privilege but a basic right." Yenketramanna from Nandi Ganpalle developed cataracts over three years before being diagnosed at an outreach camp. At 70, with impaired hearing, he relies on his son for daily sustenance. His 42-year-old son shares, "I often travel for work and had little time to address my father's eye condition; finding an affordable hospital was challenging." Their story highlights the importance of community outreach in making healthcare accessible to all. #Mission10kCataracts #CataractAwareness #VisionMatters #CataractSurgery #HealthcareForAll #SightRestored

Meet Samba, a lifeline for many in Madanapalle, helping screen and assist people with eye issues and maintain eye health. Cataracts can severely affect livelihoods if not treated in time. "Samba's help was crucial to get the surgery done. He helped me through the whole process," says one beneficiary who developed cataracts due to prolonged smoke exposure. "Without Samba, I wouldn't have received the right information and surgery in time". Here's to Samba and many other mobilizers who work tirelessly on ground to help screen people and improve their eye health. #Mission10kCataracts #CataractAwareness #VisionMatters #CataractSurgery #HealthcareForAll #SightRestored
