MIT Vishwashanti Gurukul - an IB World School reposted this
Shiv Bidani recently visited the MIT Vishwashanti Gurukul - an IB World School for an interactive session with the students. This post is a testament to the fascination of our young generation with financial literacy topics.
The ‘Gurukula’, translating to ‘home of the teacher’, was an ancient Indian educational method. What made this system special? It was its focus on: 1. holistic development of students. 2. their life skills and moral values, and 3. most importantly the ‘guru-shishya’ relationship. Though evolved, the Indian education system still boasts influences from this age-old Gurukula learning. One such school is the MIT Vishwashanti Gurukul - an IB World School, intending to create a community of students rooted in Indian cultural values, equipped with all the modern practical skills. This visit signifies an important step towards financial literacy for the students. 1. The central building, with its magnificent dome, captures a blend of Indian cultural heritage and the legacy of the school. 2. The hospitality and warmth of the faculty and organisers set the session's tone. 3. How do you allocate assets? How do you begin investing with a small capital? These were just some of the questions asked by the students. 4. It was a breath of fresh air to see students being aware of topics like IPOs and investments and displaying enthusiasm about them.
