It's still surreal to post this because I can still hear your joyous voice. 💔 Marlena Murphy, MA, LAPC, NCC was a tireless advocate for diversity in clinical trails, patients' digital rights, peer support, and cancer navigation for communities. Her smile lit up every room and meeting. Cancer stole you too soon. Marlena joined meetings during her treatment appointments and from her doctor appts as The Light Collective worked on our AI Rights for Patients draft. Marlena knew her time on this earth was limited and yet she actively showed up to ensure that the unmet needs of the patient communities she supported were represented in our work. Marlena dedicated her life's work to make healthcare a better place for all patients. Marlena, I'm so blessed to have known you, to have learned from you, to have collaborated with you. My heart goes out to the GRASP community for their deep loss. Rest peacefully and in power. I know you and Casey Quinlan H.U.M.A.N.🌟 are reunited, hopefully sailing and laughing with a bourbon in hand. American Hospital Association just handed a case to set legal precedent gutting OCR's authority to enforce #HIPAA. This comes at a time when #SCOTUS has the Chevron Doctrine (i.e. agencies' authority to interpret/ enforce federal law) is on the chopping block.
