Enjoyed designing and delivering a training session on presentation skills for early career researchers with backgrounds in science and engineering at GITAM Deemed University, Visakhapatnam. Wrapped off the session with a presentation contest for participants. The effective presentation of our work and the implications of our work - whether in the written or spoken form - is key to increasing awareness on a topic, building collaborations, obtaining grants, and disseminating ideas. A first step towards enhancing communication skills is to provide safe, supportive spaces for acquiring, practicing, and improving these skills. Thank you, iRISE - Inspiring India in Research, Innovation and STEM Education Programme and all the partners of the iRISE Programme, for the kind invitation to deliver a session on effective communication for the Early Career Researcher's Development Strand. Much gratitude to GITAM Deemed University, Visakhapatnam, for hosting the workshop and providing valuable support. And a big thank you to all the participants from various disciplines - pharmacy, chemistry, life sciences, environmental sciences, mathematics, computer science, physics, engineering - for participating actively, enthusiastically, and with a keen desire to learn. #presentationskills #communicationskills #earlycareerresearchers #training #STEM #workshop
A glimpse from the 3-Day "Capacity Building Workshop for Early Career Researchers" hosted by GITAM Deemed University, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh under the auspices of the Early Career Researcher's Development (ECR) Strand of iRISE - Inspiring India in Research, Innovation and STEM Education Programme initiative. Ms. Anita Nagarajan, a Communications and Editing Consultant and Educator, led a session on effective presentation design and delivery. Participants learned key steps for creating compelling presentations and engaged in group activities to develop and refine their outlines. They explored techniques for engaging their audience and customizing presentations for different environments. The session concluded with a "Walk the Talk" contest, where participants delivered their final presentations and received constructive feedback. This interactive approach ensured practical application of the concepts, enhancing participants' presentation skills. The most important aspect of research is increasing the outcome that is measurable. Researchers develop technologies that can be protected with IP rights and hence creating a technology and innovation roadmap that generates intellectual property shall the be key indicator for assessing the value of the research and development and attract investments. I spoke on: - How systematic Innovation and its amalgamation with scientific knowledge leads to generation of lot of patentable ideas. - Distinction between Innovation and Invention. - Improving the inventiveness of any invention - Protection of the inventions with the right IP assets and IP Management strategies. - Key considerations for researchers in generating IP from scratch. Thank team iRISE - Inspiring India in Research, Innovation and STEM Education Programme for effectively organizing and providing the opportunity. The PhD scholars at GITAM Deemed University were a fantastic audience. Thanks for the mutual learning experience.

Founder and CEO at WeInnovate Biosolutions Pvt. Ltd Entrepreneur l Innovator l Passionate for Infection Prevention l Diehard Indian l Scientist
PhD makes us hyper specialised, but at the same time it empowers us with a certain sense of hidden wisdom. In today’s world I guess we have to utilise that to our strengths to make a career. We earn the power of problem solving but make it complicated for others. Moreover, before solution ‘the real problem needs articulation.’ Time to shift our solution driven thinking to problem driven thinking. I am happy to share the strategies to ‘identify problem’ and ‘articulate the problem statement’ and how to play on our strengths to carve out way into entrepreneurship. Thanks to very respective Audience at GITAM Deemed University and iRISE - Inspiring India in Research, Innovation and STEM Education Programme Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Pune.
