On Friday, 28th June 2024, we had the pleasure of hosting a team of disability ambassador volunteers from Accenture at our Khyalassanahalli campus! With 15 volunteers, including virtual participants like Ms. Priya from Mumbai, the visit kicked off with a discussion on Accenture's DEI Charter and their commitment to accessibility and employment opportunities. The team enjoyed an ice-breaking session, inspiring stories, and a tour of our campus. Special thanks to Ambika Chandrashekhar and all the Accenture volunteers for their incredible support and dedication to empowering our community! 🌟 Thank you, Accenture, for your ongoing commitment to making a difference! #Inclusion #Accessibility #CorporateVolunteers #Accenture #APD #DisabilitySupport #CommunityEngagement #Empowerment

About us
The Association of People with Disability (APD), India is a non-governmental organisation that’s transforming the lives of underprivileged people with disability since 1959. Based in Bengaluru, Karnataka, we run extensive programs in rural and urban Karnataka to enable, equip and empower children and adults with a range of disabilities including locomotor, spinal cord injury, speech and hearing, cerebral palsy, and to some extent, mental issues. Till date, we have impacted 500,000+ lives of people with disability with our lifecycle approach - early intervention, education, livelihood, rehabilitation, capacity building, and facilitating access to entitlements. We also develop strategic partnerships with NGOs (especially local), government, corporate and other bodies to augment the reach of our programs. We work closely with government at various levels to influence policy. We plan to reach out to 1,31,100 children and people with disability in 2018-21. Join hands with us!

We were thrilled to partner with JW Marriott for a special Wheelchair Assembly event! 60 passionate volunteers from the business world came together to build 6 wheelchairs for deserving young girls with #CerebralPalsy. Each chair also came with a personalised message of encouragement! Huge thanks to the Bon Voy program by JW Marriott India for facilitating this incredible donation. It's inspiring to see corporations give back to communities through initiatives like #ProjectShakti, empowering women and girls. Special shoutout to Mr. M Ronan Fearon, Ms. Ayesha Bhalla & Ms. Lizanne Pinto for their dedication! Together, we're making a difference, one wheelchair at a time. ✨ #WheelchairAssembly #APDCommunity #CSR #EmpoweringWomen #GivingBack #MarriottIndia

Meet Vaishnavi, a young and bright 5th-grade student at the Higher Primary School in Gollarahatti, Karnataka. Despite facing challenges with Cerebral Palsy, Vaishnavi's determination to learn shines through. ✨ With APD's guidance, Vaishnavi received an educational scholarship and access to the Niramaya Card, covering ₹50,000 in medical expenses. This is the power of advocacy! APD's Policy and Advocacy Department fights tirelessly to ensure people with disabilities benefit from government schemes. We are incredibly happy for Vaishnavi and her family. Together, let's create a more inclusive world! #SuccessStory #APD #TransformingLives #DisabilityAdvocacy #NiramayaScheme #InclusiveEducation

Spinal cord injuries severely impact an individual’s quality of life but #AssistiveDevices like #wheelchairs can help them reclaim their independence and self-esteem. Thanks to Weir Minerals' support, 12 individuals were granted this chance through our recent Wheelchair Distribution Programme in Jeevan Beema Nagar on June 27th. We are especially grateful to Kristen Walsh, Raju KVSS, and Ganga Murali for championing this cause. Your dedication and generosity are helping create a more inclusive society for all. 💪❤️ #EmpoweringLives #CSR #WeirMinerals #SpinalCordInjury #PWDs #DisabilityAwareness #Accessiblity #YesToAccess #APD
