On Friday, 28th June 2024, we had the pleasure of hosting a team of disability ambassador volunteers from Accenture at our Khyalassanahalli campus! With 15 volunteers, including virtual participants like Ms. Priya from Mumbai, the visit kicked off with a discussion on Accenture's DEI Charter and their commitment to accessibility and employment opportunities. The team enjoyed an ice-breaking session, inspiring stories, and a tour of our campus. We just wrapped up an amazing CRE workshop on Inclusive Education! 🎉 50+ Block Inclusive Education Resource Teachers joined us for two days of learning, sharing, and growth. Together with the Rehabilitation Council Of India, we explored new ways to support students with diverse needs. In commemoration of World Environment Day, we celebrated 'Nurturing the Green’ week at our APD Horticulture Training Centre in Jeevan Bhima Nagar! 🌱 Our esteemed chief guests, Mr Rakesh Kumar and Ms Dhenuka Srinivasan from ABB India, were present to kickstart the week of activities. We were proud to showcase our exotic range of plants and flowers, available for sale as part of the special event. Meet Vaishnavi, a young and bright 5th-grade student at the Higher Primary School in Gollarahatti, Karnataka. Despite facing challenges with Cerebral Palsy, Vaishnavi's determination to learn shines through. ✨ With APD's guidance, Vaishnavi received an educational scholarship and access to the Niramaya Card, covering ₹50,000 in medical expenses. This is the power of advocacy! APD's Policy and Advocacy Department fights tirelessly to ensure people with disabilities benefit from government schemes. Spinal cord injuries severely impact an individual’s quality of life but #AssistiveDevices like #wheelchairs can help them reclaim their independence and self-esteem. Thanks to Weir Minerals' support, 12 individuals were granted this chance through our recent Wheelchair Distribution Programme in Jeevan Beema Nagar on June 27th.
