Vector databases are used in a variety of applications, such as search engines, recommendation systems, and fraud detection. 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐬𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲: Imagine you have a database of images. You want to find all of the images of cats. With a traditional database, you would have to search the database for all of the images that have the word "cat" in the title or description. This can be slow, especially if you have a large database. With a vector database, you would first create a vector representation of each image. A vector representation is a mathematical object that represents the image's features, such as its color, shape, and texture. Once you have created a vector representation of each image, you can then search the database for images that have a similar vector representation to the image you are interested in. This is much faster than searching for images with the word "cat" in the title or description because you are not searching for specific words, but rather for images that are similar to the image you are interested in.
