Congratulations Forsea, the pioneer of cultivated #eel meat, for this feature in KAN11! 💫 Freshwater eels are at risk of #extinction and cannot be raised in captivity. However, Forsea’s innovative #cellularagriculture technology, which utilizes #marine stem cells, holds the potential to make #sustainable cultivated eel fillets (#unagi) widely available worldwide in the coming years. 🔬 Given the current high price of wild eels and a market valued in the billions of dollars, Forsea’s #technology could revolutionize this traditional dish while contributing to the protection of #biodiversity. 🌊 Note: Most of the video is in Hebrew, though translation is available using YouTube’s built-in auto-generated subtitles. 👇 https://lnkd.in/e8sXw_AQ Roee Nir , Moria Shimoni, Iftach Nachman , Itay Nakdimon, Shaked David, Shira Damti Sheskin, Nicolás Moreno Hick

📣 Our new State of Global Policy Report is out! We are pleased to share that the #alternativeproteins sector enjoyed game-changing developments and commitments from governments and regulators in 2023, as the public sector across geographies stepped up to the alternative proteins funding plate! 🌍 Altogether, GFI estimates that newly announced global public funding for alternative proteins in 2023 amounted to $523 million, while the all-time investment totals to $1.67 billion. As the report indicates - governments play a critical role in unlocking the full climate and economic benefits of alternative protein in the years to come. 📈 Within Israel specifically, the public sector is a leader in driving regulatory frameworks for alternative proteins, notably with regulator’s approval of Remilk's fermentation-based dairy protein and the world’s first regulatory approval of a cultivated beef product by Aleph Farms. 🏆 Unique to this year’s policy report is a “Policy Menu,” delineating the various policy mechanisms that countries can implement to support alternative proteins. From research grants to loans to tax rates, there is a vast toolkit that policymakers can employ to drive this critical sector forward to create a more #sustainable global food system. Congratulations to Brevel for the grand opening of your new #microalgae #protein production facility yesterday! 🎉 We are blown away by how far co-founders Yonatan Golan, Ido Golan and Matan Golan and have come with their trailblazing company delivering nutrient-packed, carbon-negative microalgae protein for the #alternativeprotein industry! 🏆 Some exciting highlights from the big debut: 🧀 Brevel has opened a 27,000 sq ft commercial plant in Southern Israel which can produce hundreds of tons of microalgae protein via biomass fermentation, to be used in vegan cheeses and other dairy analogs. We were wowed to see the whopping 5,000-liter bioreactor in the new facility! 🔬In addition to microalgae protein, Brevel will also utilize and sell co-products created from the microalgae production process like fibers, lipids and pigments, to be used in other food streams. ⚡ Brevel employs a technology that combines both light for photosynthesis and fermentation into a single process - an extremely complex feat - that can deliver commercial scale algae-derived protein in a supply-chain, weather, and location-independent process. We wish the Brevel team the best of luck and can't wait to see (and taste) what comes next from your delicious and sustainable products! 💫 Read more about Brevel’s newly inaugurated plant in this article by Anay Mridul from Green Queen Media: https://lnkd.in/eYUrxAxJ Israel Innovation Authority The Kitchen Hub #Foodtech #Foodindustry #Altprotein #Vegan #climatetech #sustainability #microalgae #alternativeprotein
