What are the best HR due diligence review practices for successful mergers and acquisitions?
It can be important to discern which goals are business critical to achieve with the acquisition and work from there to identify the highest priority levers to consider in the process. Some goals may be longer term but need addressing right from the start, so having a realistic time line to track the different goals is helpful.

What are the best HR due diligence review practices for successful mergers and acquisitions?
In my experience the due diligence should include a cultural assessment as well as an analysis of the skills and capabilities of the leadership team, e.g. through relevant assessments. It's often the human side of acquisitions that determines their success even when the numbers and business goals have been aligned.

Really important to work closely with the founders and the leadership team, ensuring they are becoming part of the new organization's team, culture and radiate the excitement about the merger to their teams.
