It was a huge privilege to be in the audience at The Glucksman, a beautiful venue enabled by philanthropy, to hear the force of nature and amazing orator, Kingsley Aikins, speak so inspirationally about Tony O’Reilly, a man who played such a key role in enabling philanthropic impact across the island of Ireland. 👏👏👏#theirelandfunds #socialimpact #legacyforgood

CEO of The Networking Institute - we have developed a methodology that shows professional business people how to survive and thrive by building strong and diverse networks.

A tribute to Tony O'Reilly. For over 20 years I worked for The Ireland Funds which Tony O’Reilly founded and led since their launch in 1976. He was a talented, visionary and inspirational leader and also great fun to be around. At the recent Worldwide Ireland Funds Conference in Cork I had the opportunity of paying a short tribute to somebody who left a mark on everything he did and everybody he met, especially on the island of Ireland.   I finished by quoting the American writer Grantham Rice who wrote “When the great scorer in the sky comes to mark against your name he marks not if you won or lost but how you played the game”.   Tony played the game well, really well. Now it is the turn of others to carry on the torch and honour his legacy.

OKC’s Head of Development and Operations Oonagh O'Donovan had the pleasure of attending yesterday’s #AliceAsks event, hosted by OKC’s strategic partner Alice Public Relations. Exploring the question 'Is AI a Force for Evil or for Good?', a fantastic panel of experts discussed how AI influences the information we share and consume; how it is – and should be – regulated; and how public-sector and not-for-profit organisations can safely use AI. Thank you to Alice Public Relations for hosting such an insightful event, and to the panellists for sharing their valuable perspectives. It was a really fascinating discussion with so much food for thought!

Our Head of Development and Operations, Oonagh O'Donovan, was delighted to attend today’s #CiiSummit2024 - Imagining Ireland without Charities. This year’s Summit provided a fantastic opportunity to reconnect with colleagues and engage in thought-provoking discussions. Here are some of Oonagh’s key takeaways from the day: ➡️ There is a need for greater partnership between philanthropy and government to enable better and more sustainable impact for the charity sector. ➡️ The essential role charities play in shaping civil society.  ➡️ How charities can influence the political agenda through advocacy.  ➡️ The importance of communication in showcasing the necessity and impact of charities - and the need for charities to invest in this area. ➡️ Building successful philanthropic partnerships requires time, organisational buy-in, and tangible impact.  ➡️Charities aligning with corporate ESG goals must also ensure that they are on their own sustainable ESG journey. A standout moment was keynote speaker Margaret Heffernan’s insight on communication. She stressed the power of relatable stories to drive change, using the climate crisis as a poignant example of how miscommunication can lead to disengagement. It's a collective responsibility to address these challenges! Well done to the team at Charities Institute Ireland for a fantastic Summit, and thank you to all of the speakers for sharing their expertise and unique insights! We’re already looking forward to next year. #CiiSummit2024 #Philanthropy #SustainablePartnerships #ESG
