ASCD’s professional development platform for teachers had a big library of highly-curated learning content, but it also faced a big challenge: it lacked assessments. Although ASCD’s product team needed an #assessment engine, and fast, they quickly realized that building one in-house would be a waste of their development resources. The team tested open source assessment solutions, but they just weren’t modern enough to meet the platform's requirements. That's where Learnosity came in. We’ve been saying it for years: accessibility isn’t a nice to have, it’s a must have. So it’s good to see that the US #edtech industry will be soon raising its game in this area. And that’s not wishful thinking, it’s the goal of a recent US Department of Justice (DOJ) ruling that makes Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 compliance a requirement for online content provided by local and state government services—including education. We know from experience that this isn’t easy, or cheap. The DOJ estimates that compliance will cost… +$113.8 million to remediate existing third-party websites for school districts +$93.6 million for higher education +$1.134 billion to remediate certain primary and secondary classroom courses +$5.5 billion to remediate postsecondary courses But if WCAG-compliant assessment is your concern, Learnosity is already ahead of the curve in solving your problems and getting you ready for those fast-approaching compliance deadlines.
