Cricket Ireland is the National Governing Body for the sport of cricket in Ireland and a Full Member of the ICC.

About us

Cricket Ireland is the national governing body for the sport of cricket in Ireland. It is responsible for setting the strategic direction and the national administration of cricket on the island of Ireland. Cricket Ireland (also known as “The Irish Cricket Union”) was established in 1923. On 22 June 2017 the ICC announced that Ireland had been granted Full Membership status and had become a fully-fledged Test Match playing nation. This granted Ireland Test status and allowed the organisation to join the ICC Future Tours Programme. Cricket Ireland is directly responsible for the international men's and women's squads, and the performance pathway structures in both systems. It also runs the men's inter-provincial and first-class competition, the women's Super Series, and three national club cricket cup competitions. Cricket Ireland works closely with the provincial unions - Cricket Leinster, Northern Cricket Union, North West Cricket Union and Munster Cricket - in delivering national programmes and supporting grassroots initiatives across Ireland.

We are committed to supporting the advancement of women involved in cricket into positions of leadership throughout our sport, both on and off the field! Since starting in 2020, our On The Front Foot programme has helped over 30 women advance their roles in cricket, from their clubs right through to the international game and national governance. The purpose of On The Front Foot is to empower women through leadership training, to create a supportive network and coaching participants towards achieving their goals in cricket. ☘️ With a huge thanks to the Sport Ireland Women in Sport fund for their support, our 2024 programme is NOW OPEN for registrations. 🙌 It’s free and open to all women 18+ involved in Irish cricket, including players, coaches, volunteers, activators and administrators. To quote Rashi Mukhopadhayay, a programme graduate from Cork County CC - “𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆!” 😁 ↪️ https://lnkd.in/eH7cdx6b

The ICC Women’s Under-19 T20 World Cup will take place in Malaysia in early 2025, and will be just the second ever edition of a tournament that provides invaluable experiences for players and showcases the ‘next-gen’ of international stars to fans around the world, with matches livestreamed globally. Today our Under-19s take on Jersey Women at Hollywood CC in the second of two T20s, following which we will participate in national schools' games in the UK, and plans are underway for an overseas trip in October. With eight out of the 14 players participating in this series having also played in the 2023 ICC Women’s Under-19 T20 World Cup in South Africa, these opportunities offer further experience for many of the squad, while for others this is the first time they will represent Ireland at this level! 🙌 ↪ https://shorturl.at/RqBtO #BackingGreen ☘️

Our lads recently arrived home from the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, 2024. The results in the USA may not have gone our way, but the players showed plenty of fight and there were some superb individual performances during each of the three completed matches. Thanks as always to everyone who has been #BackingGreen throughout the journey, particularly those who travelled out to support! ☘️   It’s a testament to the consistency and hard work of all the players, coaches, and support staff over the past few years that Ireland is one of 12 countries to secure automatic qualification for the 2026 ICC Men's T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka, as the 11th ranked T20I team in the world.

Last week Emerging Ireland completed a 3-0 One Day Series win over the West Indies Under-23s.   It was a great experience and development opportunity for our pathway players against strong opposition, with each of the matches closely fought - congratulations to all the players, coaches and support staff involved! 👏   Thanks and well done to everyone involved at Eglinton CC and Bready CC, as well as the NWCU, for being such fantastic hosts. 🙌   The series has moved from coloured clothes to whites, with the first of two First Class (four day) matches currently ongoing at North Down CC, and the second match taking place at Stormont from 25 June.   #BackingGreen ☘

It's #Bloomsday! A day created to celebrate the brilliant works of James Joyce across the country, and beyond. Joyce was an avid cricket fan and often wrote about it in his works. We were delighted to be asked by the Consulate General of Ireland in Miami to examine this relationship for their Bloomsday event. Ireland International, Barry McCarthy, chatted with journalist Ger Siggins about Joyce and his love of cricket. And about the little matter of Ireland v Pakistan at the T20 World Cup today! Have a look... Happy Bloomsday #BackingGreen

𝐓𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐈𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐘𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲! 🍎 ☘️ There are few people better placed to tell that story than Kevin O'Brien and Alan Lewis who gave a fresh insight into Irish cricket and an unprecedented period of progress at elite level for the Men's and Women's game over the past 20 years. Alongside Cricket Ireland Chair Brian MacNeice, we also highlighted our ambitious plans to grow cricket in Ireland in the run up to co-hosting the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2030. 🏏 Thanks so much Department of Foreign Affairs, Ireland and its Consul General of Ireland in New York, Helena Nolan for hosting and giving us this unique opportunity on the 100th Anniversary of diplomatic relations between Ireland and USA. With the event taking place on the eve of our World Cup clash with India we were also honoured to be joined by Consulate General of India, New York Vishal Harsh, CG Consul for Trade Manish Kulhary and to hear the Deputy Commissioner from the NYC Mayor’s office of International Affairs, Dilip Chauhan talk about the special ties between Ireland and India through cricket. A final thanks to all of the guests who attended and the Ambassador of Ireland to India, Kevin Kelly for the idea to deliver this event on the 75th Anniversary of diplomatic relations between Ireland and India. If you are interested in #BackingGreen and would like to learn more about opportunities to support Irish cricket, please don’t hesitate to send us a DM and we will be happy to provide more details.
