Bank of Ireland Group has today announced Interim Results for the first six months of 2024. The Group has had an excellent performance reporting a profit of €1.1 billion, up 5%. This performance – underpinned by growth in our loan book and wealth assets, higher income, and robust capital generation – supports upgraded earnings guidance for the year. We are now half-way through our three-year strategy. We're meeting or beating our targets and investing for the future. This year we've announced a range of improvements to our branches, ATMs, contact centre services and fraud support for our customers. The launch of innovative green mortgages, the expansion of agri-business green lending, and an increased funding commitment for housing were also important developments in the first half of the year. As part of this, our Emerging Careers programmes provide internship, work placement, volunteering and apprenticeship opportunities that support in building their skills and capabilities. To celebrate the diversity of programmes and the colleagues who support same, earlier this month Careers Academy was delighted to host an Emerging Careers Networking Event. Attended by Matt Elliott, Chief People Officer, and Susan Russell, Retail Ireland CEO and Executive Sponsor of Careers, the event was the first time that this cohort of interns, apprentices, graduates, and volunteers have had the chance to come together to meet one another and share their experiences of joining and working in the organisation. This week, we showcased our commitment to Irish homebuilding at a conference organized by the The Housing Agency Ireland, the Department of Housing, Local Government, and Heritage, and the Department of Finance Ireland. John Feeney, our Head of Property, Project and Asset Backed Finance, discussed our leading role in funding new homes and attracting international capital to support Irish home building. We are funding approximately 21,000 residential units across c.170 sites, including 3,200 social housing units. Our goal is to support 25,000 new homes by 2026 with €2.5 billion in funding. To address equity financing challenges, we launched the Irish Homebuilding Equity Fund with the Ireland Strategic Investment Fund and Pearl Property Managers Limited. This €55 million fund aims to provide equity investment for housebuilders to unlock finance for sites with planning permission and residential zoning.
