Tentang kami

Welcome to the Embassy of Sweden in Jakarta! The Embassy's mission is to represent Sweden in Indonesia, East Timor, and Papua New Guinea and to deepen and broaden bilateral relations between Sweden and Indonesia, Sweden and East Timor and Papua New Guinea, respectively. The Embassy also monitors and reports on ASEAN, whose secretariat is in Jakarta and where the Ambassador has been accredited since 2010. The Embassy works actively to promote Sweden and Swedish companies in Indonesia. As part of the trade promotion, we have a close cooperation with Business Sweden, and we are constantly working to increase Swedish exports and imports of goods. The Embassy also has the task of spreading information about Sweden, facilitating student and cultural change, and promoting Swedish values. This includes human rights with focus on LGBT+ rights, environment and sustainable development as well as gender equality. Indonesia is a rapidly growing tourist destination for Swedes and the Embassy has an important consular role in assisting distressed Swedes in Indonesia with advice and support. • Last week we hosted an event at the Ambassador’s residence to highlight gender equality as a driver for economic growth. Together with NordCham Indonesia, the Nordic Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia, we also invited valuable speakers to also talk about Indonesia’s current and future economic outlook. Our speakers were: Daniel Blockert, Ambassador of Sweden to Indonesia, Timor-Leste and ASEAN; Satu Kahkonen, Country Director for Indonesia and Timor-Leste, World Bank; and Shinta Kamdani, Coordinating Vice Chairman III, Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), and CEO, Sintesa Group. “If you don't give people the framework and opportunities, gender equality is not something that would come magically. One thing that, especially the World Bank has shown, is that it’s just a really bad economic policy to have half of a population not having the same economic opportunities.” – Ambassador Daniel Blockert Our expert speakers provided an in-depth analysis of Indonesia's current economic landscape, discussing challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in the context of national and global trends. The event ended with a productive discussion between our guests and the speakers about relevant issues. Sweden believes that gender equality is not only a moral obligation but also a significant contributor to societal and economic wellbeing. #genderequality #Sweden #Indonesia #economicgrowth Toto Suharto

During the autumn of 2023 our intern Matilda Sjölin Skog, who studies a master’s in leadership and organisation at Malmö University, conducted research on the collaboration of Team Sweden in Jakarta. She interviewed and collected data from the employees of the Swedish Embassy and Business Sweden. Today the results were presented jointly for Team Sweden, followed by engaging conversation of how to continue the work Matilda has started. "Team Sweden" is an umbrella made up of public authorities, government agencies and companies that all work to promote Swedish exports abroad.
