On Friday last week, eFishery and HSBC Indonesia signed a collaborative agreement, securing a US$30 million in Green and Social Loan to assist eFishery in expanding our Aquaculture ecosystem and its impacts. The agreement was signed by Steve Andoko (Head of Corporate, Wholesale Banking HSBC Indonesia), Gibran Huzaifah (CEO & Co-Founder eFishery), and Riko Tasmaya (Managing Director Head of Wholesale Banking HSBC Indonesia). In addition, HSBC Indonesia was also appointed as eFishery’s Sustainable Finance Coordinator to assist in integrating Environmental, Social, and Governance aspects within our business. One of eFishery's goals is to build accessible technology for Aquaculture Farmers. This includes multiple aspects of technological assistance, such as personalized response, fast solutions, and choice of language. Mas Ahya is one of eFishery's latest innovations to bring these aspects to solve Fish & Shrimp Farmers' issues. Indonesia is on its way to reducing its stunting rate. The Indonesian Nutrition Status Survey (SSGI) shows that Indonesia’s stunting prevalence had dropped from 24.4 percent (2021) to 21.6 percent the following year. However, the Indonesian government's target is to further reduce the number to 14 percent by 2024. This target is aligned with the second Sustainable Development Goal of creating a world free of hunger by 2030 and for Indonesia to achieve food security. eFishery's Head of Regulatory Government Affairs, Luciana Dita Chandra, addresses the condition of stunting intervention in Indonesia and how Aquaculture Technology, specifically Fish Farming Technology, should be implemented to reduce Indonesia's stunting prevalence more effectively. Ensuring sustainability is a big part of building eFishery's Aquaculture ecosystem. We are honored to have the opportunity to collaborate with Monterey Bay Aquarium to pilot the Verification Platform in Indonesia. The Verification Platform is designed to assist Shrimp Farmers in assessing their shrimp farming business and its environmental impacts. Through this collaboration and piloting program, we hope that we are one step closer to achieving an Aquaculture ecosystem that's not only productive and beneficial to the communities, but is also sustainable in practice. eFishery’s main goal has always been to make Aquaculture the primary source of animal protein in the world as our part in strengthening food security. Our efforts start upstream, one of which is by digging into the potential Aquaculture development present in South Sulawesi, a province in Indonesia that possesses great fishery potential. Through an open sharing session on the Development of the Fishery Sector in South Sulawesi (Pengembangan Sektor Perikanan Provinsi Sulawesi Selatan) held by eFishery, the government, and Bank Indonesia, we hope that extensive knowledge on Aquaculture can be shared to increase the productivity of local Farmers. In addition to improving productivity upstream, eFishery also focuses on food distribution downstream, an effort that can battle child malnutrition, especially in Indonesia. This is why eFishery moves to distribute high-quality fishery products to those in need to improve food security in Indonesia and reduce the number of undernourishment. One of the locations we focused on is Lekopancing Maros village in South Sulawesi, where eFishery distributed 200 kg of fish as a form of intervention against stunting for 30 days. The program is a form of commitment by eFishery to continuously distribute high-quality fishery products for the well-being of communities in Indonesia. Through these efforts made by eFishery through collaboration with multiple parties, we hope to create positive impacts that affect many people in Indonesia through the development of the Aquaculture sector. Collaboration with local communities and government is one of the keys to building an inclusive digital economy. It's a way we can ensure that the positive impacts of eFishery directly affect Farmers through grassroots activities and building the community from the ground up. With that in mind, last week on November 15 eFishery and Dinas Kelautan dan Perikanan of North Sumatera held a coordinative meeting (rapat koordinasi) regarding the development of the Aquaculture sector in North Sumatera. The event was officiated by the Head of Dinas Kelautan dan Perikanan of North Sumatera, Mr. Hamdan Sukri Siregar, followed by an open discussion regarding the Aquaculture scene in North Sumatera and its challenges. The meeting continues with presentations from eFishery's representatives on product knowledge and matching North Sumatera's challenges with the solutions that eFishery presents. The meeting is a form of eFishery's commitment to promoting the strategic development of Aquaculture in the region by creating a multi-stakeholder forum. A total of 9 districts/cities expressed interest in exploring commercial partnerships with eFishery after the event. With the creation of a multi-stakeholder forum such as this, both eFishery and the government can have a broader impact on Fish and Shrimp Farmers across Indonesia. Let's #GrowTogether!
