Officials in Kingston are pushing for a citywide speed limit.
Mayor Steve Noble tells News 12 that he has proposed a citywide 25 mph speed limit in an effort to reduce crashes and improve pedestrian safety.
The proposal, which will be reviewed by the Public Safety Committee later this month, aims to decrease the severity of accidents and protect pedestrians.
According to AAA, a pedestrian struck by a vehicle traveling at 25 mph has a 25% chance of being killed. However, that risk doubles when a vehicle is traveling at 30 mph or above.
