Crash on Taconic State Parkway causes significant traffic backups in Yorktown
A major crash on the Taconic State Parkway caused significant traffic backups in Yorktown on Monday night.
The crash happened around 7:30 p.m. and initially closed all the southbound lanes of traffic.
One lane of traffic opened up in the southbound lanes of the parkway near exit 19 at 10 p.m. - not far from the Atomic Veterans Memorial Bridge.
The investigation into what caused it is still actively being looked into.
It is not currently known how many cars were involved or the extent of injuries. Officials do say they are investigating it as a very serious crash, with potential fatalities.
