Honors Section information for faculty

Faculty members, visiting lecturers, or experienced adjunct faculty may teach an Honors course. Graduate students may not offer Honors sections, though some post-doctoral and award-winning recent PhDs have taught Honors students.

To get an Honors section approved, in most situations, you will need to have the course approved by your department before it is approved by the Morehead Honors College. All proposals will go through the curriculum committee via the CAPA course proposal system.

Honors sections are typically loaded and administered by your academic department in coordination with the Morehead Honors College.

If you are interested in teaching Honors courses, contact your department head. If you want to create an Honors section of an existing course, it may need to be proposed through the curriculum approval program CAPA. Check with your department head first.

If you have a non-Honors student who wants to take your course, the Morehead Honors College can allow access if the student has at least a 3.4 cumulative GPA.
