Use the following resources to find academic journal articles in the social sciences. Example: You are looking for papers or articles on if and how a more diverse board of directors affects companies performance.

General / All Purpose

These databases include journal articles from thousands of journals (and some books) across many disciplines and subjects. This is particularly helpful for interdisciplinary research topics.

• Scopus
  • Largest coverage of social-science disciplines. See Scopus search help.
• Web of Science
  • Largest overall coverage with emphasis on the sciences. See Web of Science search help.
• Google Scholar
  • Easy to use, but lacks advanced search options like searching by subjects or disciplines.
  • Connect Google Scholar with Stanford Libraries to get access to articles in our collections.

Discipline-Specific Databases

These databases often have more targeted search options. For example, in PyscInfo you can search for articles by methodology (e.g. brain imaging, interviews) and the age group of the population studied.

Business

These both cover business-focused academic journals, trade and industry publications, and news outlets. You can limit search results to scholarly or academic journal articles.
