Open Data Day Curitiba 2024 - Curitiba (Brazil)

On March 6th in the city of Curitiba (Paraná), Brazil, we held the Open Data Day Curitiba 2024. ODD24 took place at Universo Curitiba located at the HIPE Innovation Center, an innovation and coworking space. We have already held Open Data Day in Curitiba since 2018, in 2020 and 2021 we did virtual and we jump in 2023. In this year the topic discussed was Open Data for Advancing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). With the aim of exploring how technology and open data can encourage the advancement of sustainable development at the UN. The event started at 5:00 pm local time and ended at 10:00 pm, with eighteen participants.

The infrastructure for the event was created by Tiago Campestrini, from Universo Curitiba, with two cameras for online transmission and two benches for participants to use their notebooks or tablets. During the event, coordinated by professor Ricardo Mendes Jr, three fifteen-minute presentations were made and broadcast live, which are available on the Universo Curitiba YouTube channel (links below). The first was with Professor Josué Sander, who presented an introduction to the Sustainable Development Goals. On the second one, Oscar Schemeiske, from the Curitiba Urban Planning Institute (Ippuc) spoke about the Urban Hypervisor (“Hipervisor Curitiba”), recently launched and of which he is the director, and its benefits for society. The third was with Alexsandro Brum from the local tech company Kie-tec presenting “Make your own GPT”.

During the event, a workshop was held with participants divided into three groups, who suggested SDG targets, with an indicator and the source of open data to be used for monitoring. The results of this workshop will be discussed at the next meetings of the Curitiba Open Data Community with the aim of presenting analyzes and dashboards and allowing the search for partner organizations to work on transformation projects in the city of Curitiba.
