#Adobe is in hot water with the DOJ, and for good reason. 🔥💁‍♂️ Just two days ago, the DOJ sued Adobe over hidden fees and difficulties in canceling subscriptions. This lawsuit highlights significant customer complaints about Adobe’s subscription practices, pointing to deceptive tactics that make it harder for users to opt out. 😠 Do we really think users appreciate being trapped by manipulative design? Especially those who value transparency, only to find themselves surprised by hidden fees and complicated cancellation processes. This lawsuit against Adobe underscores a critical issue in the digital subscription industry. 👀 Taking a step back, wouldn’t it make more sense for companies to prioritize ethical design and genuine user engagement? Design should enhance the user experience, not exploit it. Imagine interfaces that respect user autonomy and foster trust. 🙂‍↕️ There are different approaches, like designing with clarity and simplicity. Lots of companies are already implementing straightforward cancellation processes and transparent pricing. These practices build trust and promote long-term user loyalty. 🤗 Granted, eliminating dark patterns might be a challenge for some companies used to quick gains. But we should reconsider how these practices align with long-term brand integrity. D.D.A. (data-driven art), the interactive installation by Ditroit Studio for Milan Design Week 2024 really impressed me, simple and yet so carefully detailed. In this temporary lab, Delta, Theta, Alfa, Beta and Gamma brain waves of the participants are tracked and translated into unique and unrepeatable compositions through a real-time algorithm that establishes connections between colors and brain waves associated with states such as focused attention, engagement in cognitive tasks, daydreaming and relaxation. This is my brain-generated poster! I wish I had more time to explore the possible variations, deliberately trying to alter the end result through the direction of my thinking. So much for their marketing nonsense of "ethical AI" As I've said since the beginning, there is nothing ethical about how Adobe handles its AI. Their AI is trained on Adobe stock, which they do not own. They didn't ask the content owners before they trained their AI. Their TOS does give them the right to do anything they want with the content on their market. Legal, yes. Ethical? “ethical” is code for “commercially safe”. To design and materialize objects that do not yet exist in people’s minds. So Concrete team: Dmitrij Nikitin Dmitrij studied architecture at the Czech Technical University and Supermedia in the studio of Federico Diaz Díaz at the UMPRUM. His multidisciplinary specialization combines architecture and art with science and research, opening doors to innovative design and fabrication methods. At So Concrete, Dmitrij leads the robotics team. He oversees the process of designing for robotic fabrication, from design and technology reflection, to the creation of the actual code – the brief for the robots. “Complex organic shapes generated by topological optimization methods can only be created by robotic fabrication. We are applying the structural, material and aesthetic possibilities of So Concrete technology, among other things, to a project of modular hybrid façade panels. These combine structural, visual and thermal insulation functions. Rainbow washing, as defined by Urban Dictionary, is: “The act of using or adding rainbow colors and/or imagery to advertising, apparel, accessories, landmarks… in order to indicate progressive support for LGBTQ equality but with a minimum of effort or pragmatic result.” During June, companies that engage in rainbow washing will transform into colourful hubs, with bright, rainbow versions of their logo on social media without paying (or underpaying) the queer talent involved. That’s why Hila Narducci and I have created the first online database where companies can find LGBTQI+ talents from all creative fields to hire, all in one place.
