🔎 Within the framework of our commitment to control and reduce the #environmentalimpact of its operations, #DESFA examines and implements a series of #methaneemissions detection techniques. 📋A paper titled “Assessment of methane emissions measurements in Gas Transmission networks’ written by Nikolaos A. Tsochatzidis, Apostolos Papadopoulos and Nikos Katsis was presented recently at the 14th Panhellenic Chemical Engineering Scientific Conference - 14ο Πανελλήνιο Συνέδριο Χημικής Μηχανικής. 📉The study proves the benefits of #LeakDetection and #Repair surveys at DESFA’s infrastructure towards the significant reduction of fugitive methane emissions. Also, independent site level methane emissions measurements, with Drone flights, are reported and reconciled with source level measurements with their uncertainty quantification. 📣 Our Natural Gas Data for the 1st half of 2024 are out and here are the key takeaways: 📈 Increase by 29.76% in #gasconsumption in Greece, reaching 30.78 TWh with a significant increase among industrial users reaching 4.61 TWh 🌍 Slight decrease of 7.14% in #totaldemand due to reduction in #exports 📍 Sidirokastro entry point in the Greek-Bulgarian borders was the primary import gateway for natural gas, followed by the #RevithoussaLNGTerminal (Agia Triada entry point) that covered almost 1/3 of total imports 🌐 #DESFA continuous to efficiently support Greek industries and communities with reliable and cleaner #energy solutions, towards a more #sustainable future. 🌿 Learn more: https://bit.ly/3zEmNMr #GRGasData #GasMarket #Greece

DESFA, in the framework of its cooperation with the University of Western Macedonia in matters of #education, #training, #research and #entrepreneurship, has successfully completed the provision of #training services in the 5th study cycle of the Master's Program on "Energy Investments and Environment". Our instructors delivered a total of 20 hours of lessons covering the following topics: 🔹Natural Gas and Green Fuels Infrastructure 🔹Gas metrology - Quality characteristics 🔹Natural Gas Metrology - Quantitative Measurements 🔹Renewable Gases – Biomethane & Hydrogen 🔹Cooperation opportunities with DESFA: Technical Training Center, Innovation Lab, Corporate Social Responsibility Actions The students had the opportunity to visit the Operation & Maintenance Center of #NeaMessimvria and the new #TechnicalTrainingCenter of #DESFA, showing particular interest in the role and operation of the company's facilities and projects. Sotirios Bravos, Chief Commercial Services Officer of #DESFA, participated in the #AthensEnergySummit organized by Tsomokos Communications on 4-5/7. Speaking among distinguished speakers, Mr. Bravos highlighted the pivotal role of #energystorage for the creation of a resilient #energysystem, since as he stated “the RES market cannot support electricity demand alone. We need to invest in storage." Mr. Bravos emphasized that #storage cannot be limited to batteries, but it is necessary to include both #hydrogen and #biomethane as well as #decarbonized - with the use of #CCS technology - #naturalgas. In this context, he welcomed the reference of the Minister of Environment and Energy, Mr. Theodoros Skylakakis, that the new framework for energy storage will include hydrogen in storage alternatives, noting that all new infrastructures built by #DESFA will be ready to receive hydrogen as well.

DESFA CEO maria rita galli speaking at the 28th Annual Economist Government Roundtable by Economist Impact SE Europe Events, among distinguished speakers, highlighted the key role of natural gas on striking a critical balance between economic and environmental #sustainability, as well as #energysecurity, on the way to the #energytransition. Ms. Galli noted that Greece has achieved a successful partnership between #naturalgas and #RES, with gas allowing the further penetration of RES, providing #stability to the system and #infrastructure playing a primary role in this regard, as a natural means of storage. To that end, Ms. Galli analyzed DESFA contribution to the development and integration of significant #gasinfrastructure investments that allowed #Greece to serve as an #energygateway for the region, while also focusing on the company's projects for enabling #decarbonization and strengthening the #resilience of the energy system. Gerasimos Avlonitis, Market & System Development Senior Director of #DESFA participated in the 15th SE Europe Energy Dialogue organized by IENE - Institute of Energy for South - East Europe in Thessaloniki (19-20/6). Speaking among distinguished professionals on the panel on "SEE Gas Market Dynamics", Mr. Avlonitis discussed current play in the regional #gasmarket and DESFA’s priorities in the short and medium term. In this regard, he referred to DESFA's leading role in deepening #regionalcooperation within the framework of the #VerticalCorridor initiative and the company's projects for increasing the #exportcapacity of Greece, while he referred to DESFA’s projects for #hydrogen, #CΟ2 and #biomethane transportation, in the wake of the #energytransition.

DESFA CEO maria rita galli, speaking at the 2nd Hydrogen & Green Gases Forum organized on 20/6 by energypress.gr, analysed the importance, benefits and challenges for the development of the #CCS value chain in #Greece and #Europe. Ms. Galli underlined that a critical condition for unleashing the full potential of CCS technologies is the development of an integrated #CO2 transport and storage #infrastructure, something that has also been reflected in the European Commission's strategy published in the beginning of 2024, as it contributes both to the necessary economic #efficiency as well as the development of #synergies at a national and regional level. To that end, Ms. Galli highlighted that DESFA’s project for the development of a #CCShub, included in the in the final 1st #PCI list under the new #ConnectingEuropeFacility, provides a cost-effective solution, allowing for CO2 emissions aggregation through pipelines, their liquefaction at a dedicated facility and their transfer via ships to Prinos and other storage units in Greece and abroad. #decarbonization #innovation #energytransition
