Mayor Eric Adams' administration says it supports a newly passed bill that mandates a new inspection protocol after recent building collapses in the city.

An Astoria, Queens co-op complex says it would cost residents more than $50,000 each on average to pay for the renovations.

Councilmember Pierina Sanchez sponsored the measure, known as the Billingsley Structural Integrity Act.

The city says Richard Koenigsberg won’t be able to conduct facade inspections given his role in the December 2023 collapse.

A spokesperson for District Attorney Darcel Clark said her investigations division is working with the city’s fire and buildings departments.

Buildings commissioner Jimmy Oddo said the area around the collapse had been secured.

The Department of Buildings found structural damage at locations in Manhattan and Brooklyn

The bill would phase in all-electric buildings over the course of several years

Draft rules proposed by the Adams administration include loopholes that could allow wealthy building owners to pay their way out of making the necessary retrofits for energy efficiency.
