An off-duty city sanitation worker is in the deep end after police say he siphoned water from a fire hydrant to fill his backyard pool in Queens.

Rodolfo Jimenez, 41, was taken into custody at around 10:20 p.m. and charged with theft of city services, police said.

He allegedly opened the fire hydrant and used a hose to run the water into his pool, according to officials. He faces at least one Class A misdemeanor, with a maximum penalty of a year in jail and a fine of $1,000 or double whatever the defendant gained from the crime.

NYPD officials said it was unclear who reported Jimenez to police. His lawyer was not immediately reachable for comment.

This is a developing story based on information from police.
