A 58-year-old man died after two small vessels collided in the waters off South Brooklyn Saturday, officials said.

The FDNY said an 18-foot boat with one person aboard collided with a smaller vessel with two people aboard in the Shell Bank Channel. The fire department’s Marine 3 was patrolling the area and came across the collision, officials said, before a firefighter aboard pulled the 58-year-old man out of the water and began CPR. Shortly thereafter, the NYPD’s Harbor Unit arrived and pulled two other people out of the water, authorities said.

The 58-year-old man, who was not identified pending family notification, was taken to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, the FDNY said. The two other people, a 56-year-old male and a 45-year-old female, were in stable condition, officials said.

“We quickly assessed the situation to rapidly respond and provide immediate medical care to these patients. This is something we frequently train for and all of our members did a great job,” Lt. Matthew Barbara said in a statement posted to the FDNY’s social media on Sunday.

Officials said it's not yet clear what led to the deadly incident.
