Programme applications for entry in September 2024 open on 1st October 2023.

All applications must be submitted through the University of Glasgow’s online application system (click the button below). All applications are made online and all supporting documents must be uploaded to your online application. Please note that we do not accept any applications or supporting documents via email.

Prior to submitting an application, please familiarise yourself with our Programme Entry Requirements.

To confirm, this form should be completed by all applicants to the GLOCAL programme.

Please complete this form and upload as a PDF document to your Global Markets, Local Creativities application (standard University of Glasgow Application for Graduate Studies) under the “Scholarship Form” document section, along with all other supporting documentation. Note that this is not a scholarship application, and the deadline for the Erasmus Mundus scholarship for 2023 entry has now passed. To confirm, there are no Erasmus Mundus scholarships available for the 2024-2026 cohort.  Due to technical reasons however, it has not been possible to change the name of this field in the application portal.

Deadlines

    • All other tracks:
      • International/EU applications: 26th July 2024, 23:59 (UK time)
      • Home (UK) applications: 16th August 2024, 23:59 (UK time)
    • For applications received from 1st Oct 2023 – 31st Jan 2024: Applicants will be informed of outcome by 29th March 2024
    • For applications received after 31st Jan 2024: Applicants will be informed of outcome on a rolling basis.

GLOCAL has 7 study tracks to choose from

  • You MUST specify your choice of study track on application.
  • You can only apply for 1 study track.

All applications must have the following:

  • Degree certificate (and an official translation into English). If a candidate has already completed a second degree/masters, they must still upload evidence of their first degree/bachelors when making their application. Students who have not yet completed their degree can also apply. Applicants must provide academic transcripts to date. Offers of a place on the programme will be conditional pending receipt of the final degree result.  See ‘Note on conditional offers’ below.

  • Official academic transcript(s) (and an official translation into English), showing full details of subjects studied and grades/marks obtained.

  • Two supporting reference letters on headed paper.

    • References must be dated within 24 months from the date of submission of the application
    • They must be on institutional headed paper or with an official stamp. If neither are available a reference can be submitted directly to erasmusreferences@glasgow.ac.uk from the referee’s institutional email address. References will not be accepted from a personal email address.
    • References must be signed with an electronic or wet-ink signature. A typed name is not sufficient
    • At least one of the two references should be an academic reference. One may be a professional reference where it is not possible to obtain two academic references.

  • English language proficiency. In cases where it is not possible to provide proof of language qualification at this stage, applications will still be accepted but any offer of a place on the programme will be conditional until the test result is received.  See ‘Note on conditional offers’ below. For further information on English language proficiency requirements and exceptions, please refer to the section ‘English Language Entry Requirements’ here.

  • A scan of the photo page of your passport.

  • CV (Europass format preferred, but not mandatory).

Note on Conditional offers:

If you are completing the final year of your first degree or you have yet to provide the required evidence of proficiency in English, your application for entry will be considered but you will not receive an Unconditional offer of a place on the programme until we have received your final degree and/or English language test results. In such cases you may be made a Conditional offer on finishing your degree at the required grade and/or obtaining the required English language test results.

You will not be able to enrol on the GLOCAL programme until all required documents have been received and you have accepted an Unconditional offer.  

Supporting Personal Statement: 
Please be as precise as you can when writing your Supporting Personal Statement. Do not repeat yourself and do not exceed the word limit (1200 words). You should make sure that you address the following issues in your personal statement:

  • You should outline your motivation for choosing the GLOCAL programme (i.e. how it complements and develops your previous studies; how it relates to your potential future career path; how it relates to your personal and academic interests).
  • Explain why you think you are a good candidate for the programme given your previous studies and how they relate to the courses offered on the programme in both years.
  • If you have obtained significant work experience since graduating, please explain how those activities relate to the courses offered in the programme and why you are re-entering academia.
  • Briefly indicate what you might see as being the topic of your Masters thesis (this can change later).
  • You should highlight your participation in conferences, internships, non-governmental organisations, summer schools, and other socially sensitive or political activity; as well as any prizes/awards received, even if these activities are not specifically connected to the area of Global Markets & Local Creativities.

Please note that personal data may be sent to the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) and may be used for the purposes of evaluating the programme, efficiently managing the project, and producing statistics. Data could be made available to the EACEA, the European Commission, the European External Action Service staff, as well as to other stakeholders of the Erasmus+ programme, such as Erasmus+ National Agencies, National Erasmus+ Offices and the Erasmus Mundus Student and Alumni Association.
