Cooperative agreements are formal, legal agreements between UGA and a partner institution that allow more extensive and effective forms of collaboration. Cooperative agreements are indicators of an institutional commitment to a relationship and serve to help parties gather funding, limit legal exposure, establish institutional connections, and resolve misunderstandings. They are usually the first agreement executed between UGA and a prospective partner.

Reciprocal student exchange programs are developed in order to enable students to attend a partner institution while paying tuition at home. These exchanges offer opportunities for students at both UGA and the partner institutions to experience new cultures, locations, people, and ideas while progressing within their selected degree program.

Faculty mobility involves the movement of faculty between UGA and a partner institution. Schemes may include 1:1 exchanges for teaching, extended visits for training, travel for conference participation, or sponsorships. Faculty mobility allows for new opportunities for faculty development, teaching, and research both at UGA and the partner institution.

Collaborative degrees are agreements between UGA and a partner institution to allow students to take courses at multiple institutions and may involve dual degrees, joint degrees, or consecutive degrees, among others. These agreements allow students to take advantage of specialties, facilities, and faculty at UGA as well as partner institutions, improving the practical value of their education while gaining exposure to different locations and cultures.

Education abroad refers to academic programs ranging from a week to a year in which students engage in educational activities in a foreign country. Education abroad includes traditional study abroad, international service learning, research abroad, and international internships. Faculty from partner institutions and different dynamic environments can offer a unique perspective and specific expertise to UGA students.

International research partnerships enable UGA researchers to collaborate with colleagues around the globe, sharing expertise and resources for maximum impact.
