Sponsored Students
The Immigration Services office at UGA is available to assist sponsored student in certain aspects of their stay at UGA. The term “sponsored students” refers to international students who are studying at UGA and whose DS-2019 has been issued by another organization, such as IIE.
New to UGA: Sponsored Students
Sponsored students attending UGA are required to complete a simple on line check in form with our office after arriving on campus. This online check in allows us to clear your Verification of Lawful Presence (VLP) hold in your UGA record. Students should receive emails with detailed directions on how to complete this check in. If you do not receive an email from us with check in directions after you arrive in the US, please email immigration@uga.edu. Please also contact our office if you have questions about any international student charges in your student accounts.
Immigration Information
Since the Immigration Services office does not issue the DS 2019 forms, we do not have access to your SEVIS record. This means any changes to your SEVIS record must be made by your sponsor. We are, however, available for general guidance and questions. You should always seek the advice of your program sponsor regarding your immigration status, program extensions and travel signatures. If you have any questions at all, please contact our office.
Fulbright Association
The Fulbright Scholars Association (FSA) at UGA is a nonprofit organization initiated by and comprised of Fulbright grantees and students. FSA is dedicated to assisting Fulbright students attending UGA.
