If you use API keys to connect to Stripe in the Stripe add-on, this issue has an important update. Stripe recently changed their rules for creating API keys and using them to connect with partners like GiveWP.

⚙️ Features, Enhancements, and Fixes

To improve security, Stripe no longer allows new connections using standard API keys. We’ve updated our Stripe add-on to make this change easier for GiveWP users.

How does this impact me?

• Not using API keys: If you're not connecting to Stripe using standard API keys via the GiveWP Stripe add-on, this does not impact you.

• Existing standard API connections: Existing connections using standard API keys will continue working. But you should switch to restricted keys as soon as possible. Stripe hasn't announced how long they will continue to support existing connections with standard keys.

• Existing restricted API connections: Existing connections using restricted API keys will continue working. Stripe does not have plans to change this.

• New API connections: New API connections via the GiveWP Stripe add-on must use restricted keys with the required permissions. Our app in Stripe's marketplace will create the keys for you, so you don't have to configure permissions manually. Look for the option to use our app in the modal during connection.

• Use the GiveWP app to generate restricted API keys for Stripe during setup

• Prompt users with standard API keys to update their connection
