Hey the Open Science Framework team!

I open an issue here to continue a short exchange with Jeff Spies.

I noticed the use of a google map widget on https://cos.io/
Wouldn't you rather do the same with the openstreetmap equivalent?
It's about data, freedom of data and best practices, isn't it? just switch to osm.org and show you care about data (forgive me being provocative, I truly believe in your approach of open science, it's just that it is a bit contradictory).

And now that I said this, I stay available for any question this brings to you.

Best regards,

OpenStreetMap data is still all the rage, available under an open license – so Open Science friendly as one can do any experiment with it, mirrored – so no risk of interruption of service, and tracks your users much less.

A great point is some nice developers even made it easy to just replace the source of map tiles from an existing ggl map configuration: https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Google_Maps_Example

Hope you'll give it a try! If you need some help, I can get you in contact with some OSM people, don't hesitate to ask!

And it's worth writing it anywhere, thanks for the great job you do to open science!
