Masseduction Lyrics
政権の腐敗
政権の腐敗-敗
政権の腐敗
政権の腐敗-敗
政権の腐敗
政権の腐敗-敗
政権の腐敗
政権の腐敗-敗
[Verse 1: St. Vincent]
Black saint, sinner lady
Playin' knock-off soul
A punk rock romantic
Slumped on the kitchen floor
Nuns in stress positions
Smokin' Marlboros
Lolita is weeping
"The bride is beautiful"
[Chorus: St. Vincent]
Mass seduction
Mass seduction
I can't turn off what turns me on
Mass seduction
I can't turn off what turns me on
Mass seduction
I hold you like a weapon
Mass destruction
I don't turn off what turns me on
Mass seduction
I can't turn off what turns me on
Mass seduction
I can't turn off what turns me on
Mass seduction
I hold you like a weapon
Mass destruction
I don't turn off what turns me on
Smilin' nihilist met
Angry glass half full
Drinkin' Manic Panic
Singin' Boatman's Call
Teenage, Christian virgins
Holdin' out their tongues
Paranoid secretions
Fallin' on basement rugs
[Chorus: St. Vincent]
Mass seduction
I can't turn off what turns me on
Mass seduction
I can't turn off what turns me on
Mass seduction
I hold you like a weapon
Mass destruction
I don't turn off what turns me on
Mass seduction
I can't turn off what turns me on
Mass seduction
I can't turn off what turns me on
Mass seduction
I hold you like a weapon
Mass destruction
I don't turn off what turns me on
Oh, what a bore to be so adored
Oh, what a bore to be so adored
[Chorus: St. Vincent]
Mass seduction
I can't turn off what turns me on
Mass seduction
I can't turn off what turns me on
Mass seduction
I hold you like a weapon
Mass destruction
I don't turn off what turns me on
[Outro: St. Vincent]
Mass destruction
Mass destruction
Mass destruction
Mass destruction
I don't turn off what turns me on
Mass destruction
Mass destruction
Mass destruction
Mass destruction
About
The title track of Masseduction. St Vincent said in her Facebook press conference that the title is “a little play on words. Mass seduction, seduction of masses, my seduction. Am I being seduced, or am I the seducer?”
The song is sampled in the Japanese bonus track “Power Corrupts” (政権の腐敗 Seiken no fuhai), and includes vocals by Toko Yasuda, a member of her touring band.

When asked, in an interview with Pitchfork, why this song ended up being the album’s title track, she answered with:
The thesis for the album very well could be a lyric from this song: “I can’t turn off what turns me on.” It was the last track to come together. The words to all the verses and everything just came out in a torrent, and I sent them to [producer] Jack [Antonoff]. I was like, “Is this too oblique?” Jack, who is the ultimate cheerleader, just said, “No, this is really interesting. Keep going.”
“Masseduction” was awarded with the GRAMMY for Best Rock Song at the 2019 GRAMMYs:
Speaking with Billboard in January 2019, she sarcastically commented:
It’s not really my job nor interest to be the genre police. But I’m glad [“Masseduction”] was nominated as a rock song. I’m thinking maybe because it has a guitar solo? […] I’m not sure where it lands with me. But I am in a position of power to change the climate from within. I want to go even further with that.
